I approach school photography by giving each child time and space to be themselves. Instead of rushed, one-size-fits-all sessions, I create a calm, individual experience that gives their personality room to come through.
My goal is simple: I want parents to look at the finished portrait and think, “That’s my child.” The smile, the smirk, the thoughtful look — expressions that are completely their own.
Simple backdrops and beautiful light keep the focus exactly where it belongs.
I use professional studio lighting and simple backdrops so the focus stays on each child. Black or grey backdrops are available for a consistent look throughout.
Picture day can be scheduled at any time of year, whether it’s a traditional fall session or something in the spring. Themed seasonal picture days are also an option. Photography can be spread over two or more days when that works better with enrolment, schedules or daily routines. We’ll plan the timing together.
We’ll plan the flow of picture day together ahead of time. I’ll need an indoor space where I can set up my lighting and backdrop, a list of children organized by room or group ahead of picture day, and a staff member to accompany small groups to and from the photography area. I’ll also need one contact person who can forward the information I provide to families.
Once picture day is booked, you’ll receive a detailed Picture Day Preparation Guide so you’ll know exactly what’s needed and when. Families will also receive a Parent Photo Day Guide with everything they need to know before picture day.
There is no cost to the school or centre to host picture day. Families simply choose whether they would like to purchase photographs afterward.
I appreciate how much goes into managing a school or centre’s daily schedule. I’ll work with you ahead of time to fit picture day around the usual routines and scheduled activities, with children coming for their portraits in small groups throughout the day.
I’ll take the time a child needs to feel comfortable. I position my setup so other children aren’t watching while a portrait is being taken, which can help a child feel more at ease. When possible, a child who needs a little more time can also be photographed toward the end of the session so there’s no need to rush.
Yes. Siblings attending the same school or centre can be photographed together in addition to their individual portraits. Sibling portraits take a little more time, so I schedule them separately from the regular picture-day flow.
Absences are expected. If photography is scheduled over more than one day, I’ll do my best to photograph an absent child on another scheduled day. If there are multiple absences that can’t be accommodated during the scheduled photography days, I’m happy to discuss whether a short make-up session would be possible.
Families will receive private online access to their child’s edited portraits. Prints and digital images can be ordered directly through the gallery, with ordering and payment handled online. The school or centre doesn’t need to collect order forms or payments.
Pricing is à la carte, with no required packages or minimum order. Families choose only the prints or digital images they want, rather than paying for print sizes or quantities they don’t need. Print products start at $6, and a complete price guide is available upon request.
Private online galleries will be available within three weeks of picture day and will remain open for 14 days. Digital images are available for download immediately after purchase. Print orders will be delivered to the school or centre for distribution within two weeks after the gallery closes.
